Linking your PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar (Unique Identification Number) is mandatory for all taxpayers in India. It is a simple process that can be completed online through the Income Tax Department’s website. In this blog post, we will guide you through the steps to link your PAN with Aadhaar.

Process 1 : 

Step 1: Visit the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal at https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/. If you are not already registered on the portal, you will need to register first.

Step 2: Once you are logged in to the portal, you will see a ‘Link Aadhaar’ option under the ‘Quick Links’ section on the left-hand side of the screen. Click on this option.

Step 3: On the next page, enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar. Then, tick the box next to ‘I have only year of birth in Aadhaar card’ if you do not have your exact date of birth on your Aadhaar card. Enter the captcha code and click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ to proceed.

Step 4: If the details entered by you match with the details in the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) database, your PAN will be successfully linked with Aadhaar. A message will be displayed on the screen confirming the same.

Process 2: 

Alternatively, you can also link your PAN with Aadhaar through SMS. Follow these steps to link your PAN with Aadhaar through SMS:

Step 1: Send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format: UIDPAN <SPACE> <12 digit Aadhaar number> <SPACE> <10 digit PAN>

Step 2: If the details entered by you match with the details in the UIDAI database, your PAN will be successfully linked with Aadhaar. You will receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number.

It is important to note that if your PAN is not linked with Aadhaar by the deadline, your PAN will become invalid, and you will not be able to use it for any financial transactions. Therefore, it is essential to link your PAN with Aadhaar before the deadline.
